Hey seniors,
Here are the details of awards for this half of the year.
Class Based Awards
COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE + FIRE & RESCUE
Classes will start on 14 January.
Each class will have a maximum of 25 members. [currently F&R is already full]
Assessments will be done on June 17 for both awards.
Tentative date for fire station visit is April 22.
DRILL
There will be one drill theory class on 14 January, please do try your best to attend this class as it would be the only theory class for this half of the year.
Drill assessments will be on 1 & 8 July.
Drill assessments include written assessment, uniform maintenance, uniform inspection, commanding and drill.
PHYSICAL TRAINING
There will be physical training classes every week after drill, please remember to bring your sports attire.
Assessment will be progress and attendance based.
All members attending seniors camp in June will be required to attend PT sessions.
There will be a total of 13 sessions, members will need to attend a minimum of 10 sessions to qualify for the award.
FIRST AID
First aid courses will be conducted by external NGO and will take place for a whole day over 2 Saturdays.
Class size is limited to approximately 25 per class.
Tentative dates are 6 & 13 May.
Non-class Based Awards
CAMPERS & EXPEDITION
These awards will be conducted through seniors camp.
There will be 2 campers theory classes which are compulsory for any members who intend to work for their Campers Basic.
Currently, expedition advance is not offered, only campers advance is available.
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
There will be a book list posted up on the website soon which contains English and Chinese books.
Members intending to do Christian Education would need to get their own books, read it and do a write up.
There are 3 write ups that needs to be done and hence there will also be 3 different deadlines for CE.
- Summary of first half of the book 4 March
- Summary of the second half of the book 22 April
- Lessons learned and application of it in daily life 17 June
The reports will have to be a minimum of 1500 words and maximum of 3000 words written in Calibri, font size 12 and 1.15 spacing and emailed to selvyeeshean@hotmail.com
COMMUNITY SERVICE
For those interested in community service, you may approach Lance Corporal Timothy Low for more details.
For members who have completed their hours [both basic and advance], please write up a report regarding your experience. Each member one individual report.
- What you have seen and done throughout the hours of community service?
- What are the things you have learned from this experience?
- What were the effects it had on you?
- What did you think community service was before you attended it and what do you think it is now after attending it?
Reports have to have minimum 3000 words, maximum 4000 words, in Calibri, font size 12 and 1.15 spacing.

For those who went on short mission trips, please prepare presentations in groups of 2-3 people and confirm a presentation slot with me ASAP.
SWIMMING & ATHLETICS
There is currently one session of swimming and one session of athletics planned for this half of the year.
Tentative date for swimming is on the week of 11 Feb.
Tentative date for athletics is on the week of 29 April.
Please refer to the handbook for the criteria that has to be met for these awards.
Presentations
There are currently 4 dates scheduled for presentation with 3 slots per session hence a total of 12 available slots.
Priority will be given to groups who did not manage to complete their Citizenship presentation last year.
Citizenship presentation groups please confirm your slots with me by 21 Jan.
For those who are interested in taking arts, crafts or hobbies, you may approach me to find out if there are available slots. Presentation slots:-

NCO Training School
NCO training school [both basic and advance] will be held on the week of 11 March.
Members who intend to attend BNTS will need to attend ENTS before going for BNTS.
Tentative date for ENTS is 4 Feb.
All members are encouraged to take part in NCO training school.
Other Matters
A minimal 75% attendance of normal parade is required for qualification of attaining awards on Enrolment & Awards day.
Please remember to submit your leave forms when you cannot make it for parade.
Any members who did not sign up for awards and would like to do so may inform me of the awards you would like to take.
