2023 Senior Survival Camp Cooking Teams and Instructions

Hey Seniors! 

Are you ready for Survival Camp? The team is excited, we hope you are too. Here are the instructions for you. 

Instructions 

  1. Each squad needs to prepare for 8 meals (3 Breakfast, 2 Lunch, 3 Dinner)
    1. Supper will be provided
    2. Hint for Day 1 Lunch: You have limited access to water and have a short time to cook and eat. 
  2. Each squad will be given 1 gas stove and 1 hex stove
    1. The number of solid fuels and butane gas canister(s) given will be announced on the first day of camp.
    2. Be reminded that 1 solid fuel lasts for 20 minutes, 1 butane gas canister lasts for 3 hours at low heat, 1.5 hours at high heat. 
  3. Budget: MAXIMUM RM 115 per team
    1. Teams are to buy their ingredients and claim the money with Cpl Khai Xin (0182954889). 
    2. Claims MUST be compiled by groups and accompanied by receipts. You can send the receipt physically and digitally before 9 September 2023. 
  4. Instant noodles are limited to a maximum of 1 meal only! If you bring more than that, they will be the officers’ supper 😀 
  5. Junk food is not a meal, you need a lot of energy during camp. 
  6. No pork based products are allowed. 
  7. Please bring 1-2 boxes of matches for each cooking squad.

  1. You need a lot of energy during the activity, what kind of food should you bring? – (Hint: Carbohydrate)
  2. We don’t have a refrigerator and ice box for you, what type of food should you bring?
  3. Besides vegetables, what kind of fruits can you bring? 
  4. If you bring canned food, how do you open it? 
  5. What cookware should I bring to cook, cut and eat? 
  6. Am I able to carry all my ingredients and foodware to the campsite with my team? 
  7. Is your team member allergic to any food or is a vegetarian?
  8. Is the food prepared enough for my team?
